you live in.
What does residential window tint do for your home?
Solar Gard film works at the glass, before the sun’s heat gets into the room. South- and west-facing rooms stop overheating every afternoon, the A/C cycles less, and the UV that fades floors, furniture, and art is stopped at the window.
It also cuts up to 85% of glare on TVs and home-office screens and adds daytime privacy, all while keeping the view and the natural light that blinds and heavy curtains take away.
If it ever bubbles, peels, or turns purple, we make it right.
Cooler rooms.
Lower utility bills.
South- and west-facing windows can drive interior temperatures 10–15°F higher than the rest of the building during a Kansas summer afternoon — forcing your HVAC to fight the sun on every cycle.
Solar Gard architectural films reject up to 79% of total solar energy at the glass before it ever enters the room. HVAC runtime drops, hot spots disappear, and the AC stops cycling all afternoon.
*On west- and south-facing exposures. Actual savings depend on building, glazing, and HVAC.

Where homeowners
use it.
Every home has a room that fights the sun. These are the ones we tint most.
Living Rooms
West-facing windows that heat the room by mid-afternoon and wash out the TV.

Glass rooms that hit 90°F by 3pm in July. Film makes them usable in summer.

Cooler rooms for sleeping, glare-free screens for working, and daytime privacy.

Is window film better than blinds or curtains?
Blinds and curtains only block heat once they’re closed, and by then it’s already through the glass. Film stops heat and UV at the window, so you can leave the blinds open, keep the view, and stop closing the house up every afternoon. Most homes keep blinds for night privacy and let film handle the sun.

Residential Window Tint FAQs
How much does residential window tint cost?
Architectural film is priced per square foot of glass. Residential typically lands in the $7–$15/sq ft range installed, depending on the film. Every home is different, so we measure and give you an exact quote for free.
Will window film make my house dark?
No. The lightest Solar Gard solar films are nearly invisible from inside, so daylight comes in while heat and UV stay out. Darker and reflective films are there if you want daytime privacy, but you don’t need a dark film to get heat rejection.
Can you see out at night?
Yes, you can always see out. Reflective films give daytime privacy because it’s brighter outside than inside. At night, with your lights on, that flips and people outside can see in, so rooms that need privacy after dark are better served by frosted or decorative film.
Does window tint void my window warranty?
The wrong film on the wrong glass can cause problems, so we check every glass type first: single pane, dual pane, Low-E, tempered, and laminated. We only install a film Solar Gard warrants for that glass, and Solar Gard offers glass-breakage coverage when it’s paired with safety film.
How long does home window film last?
Architectural film is built for decades of service, and residential installs carry Solar Gard’s lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination, and color shift. The warranty transfers to the next owner if you sell.
Can it be removed?
Yes. Window film can be professionally removed and replaced if you change films, change your mind, or replace the window.
Does it help in winter?
Low-E films work year-round. They reject solar heat in summer and help hold room heat in during winter, which helps most in older homes with single-pane glass.
How long does a home install take?
One or two rooms are typically done in a single visit. A whole house takes 1 to 2 days depending on window count. The film needs about 30 days to fully cure. You can use the rooms right away; just don’t wash the new film for the first month.
